Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Prayer can be defined as a direct communication with God by faith, concerning the issues of your life. Prayer is the medium that connects us to the supernatural. Through prayer we tell God about issues of our lives that troubles us. Prayer is not just about asking for needs, we also praise God through prayer, we also worship Him through prayer. As believers in Christ, we must understand that we do not serve a God that stores prayers, rather we serve a God that answers prayers. God hears our prayers, and when we pray to Him in faith, He answers us.
Prayer is one of the greatest assets of the redeemed. It is our communication link with God, our heavenly Father. Unfortunately, however, many are either not taking advantage of the privilege or they approach it wrongly. No wonder you hear them say, “I have been praying for months now, and still no answer from God yet.” James 4:2-3 tells us the reason for their failure: Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss…
Until you know the meaning of prayer and how to pray correctly, you will never be free from pressures.
For your prayers to be answered, you must approach prayers with the right procedures. There is always a right way to pray. And when you follow this right way, your prayers cannot escape instant answers. Matthew 6:9-13, Jesus gave us a model of an effectual prayer. We call it the Lord’s prayer. If you study the Lord’s prayer, you will see that every prayer must start with thanksgiving, we must acknowledge the supremacy of God over our circumstances, secondly we must recognize and pray for the kingdom of God to prevail in our world. Praying for the kingdom is praying for the gospel to take over the world, thereby leading to the salvation of souls all over the world, thirdly we now present our personal requests to the Lord, we must be specific in our prayers, telling the Lord what we want Him to do in our lives, fourthly, we also need to pray for mercy, both upon ourselves and upon those who have wronged us, we must learn in prayers to forgive even as Christ has forgiven us, finally we end our prayers with thanksgiving, appreciating God for answering our prayers. Note that without your faith being in place, the answers to your prayers are not in view. You must pray believing that what you ask for you shall receive.
Prayer requires no other treatment in heaven than answers. God has no record book for prayers, neither does He have a storeroom for them. They are either answered or returned to sender. That is the reason many have never received answers to their prayers. But from now on, I see you use these miracle prayer guide, so that every time you stand before God in prayer you will always receive answers.
Prayer is the breath of the regenerated spirit. Just like every strong relationship thrives on the maintenance of a very good communication link between the parties involved, prayer not only serves as a means of getting God to intervene in our affairs, it enhances the strength of our relationship with Him,since it is one of the ways we fellowship with Him. Prayer is not optional for the believer because it is one of our vital covenant responsibilities. That is why the Word of God admonishes that we pray always, Luke 18:1, 1 Thessalonians 5:17
THE POWER OF PRAYER
Prayer is a powerful force of change in the life of the believer. With prayer, we can change all things. Prayer is the only way a christian generates and releases power. If you want to see the power of God at work , pray, if you want to resist the devil, pray, if you want to subdue the powers of principalities and forces of darkness, pray, if you want to enjoy divine health and wholeness, pray, if you want to see spiritual growth, pray, if you want to be filled with the Holy ghost ,pray. Prayer is the key to the supernatural.
Every praying Christian will always oppress the devil and His agents. In the book of Psalms 68:1, the word of God said, “let God arise and let His enemies be scattered” the truth is this God will not arise in your situation, until you Arise in prayers. Our God is a God of principles, He will not intervene in your life until you call on Him in faith, He is an omnipresent God, but his manifested presence is only seen and experienced where He is called upon in prayer, the prayer of faith. Prayer is a weapon of mass destruction in the hand of the believer, when you are a prayerful Christian, you are a danger to the devil and the kingdom of darkness. Therefore I charge you today, whatsoever it is in your life that the devil is contending with you about, whatsoever it is you are passing through today, I encourage you to arise in prayers, rebuke the devil and cast him out of your life and family forever in Jesus name. Here at the Watchman Family, we have powerful prayer points that can help you wage spiritual warfare that will give you dominion over the devil.
8 BENEFITS OF PRAYER.
We are going to be looking at 10 benefits of prayer, what a believer stands to benefit, when he or she is committed to a lifestyle of prayers.
1). Help From Above:
Psalms 121:1-2 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
Prayers gives us help from above. When we pray, we call on the forces of Heaven to come to our rescue. Nobody can succeed in life without help, no christian can make it in life without prayers. Prayers is the fastest and sure way we can secure Help from God, and when God is helping you, no man can stop you in life.
2). Obtain Mercy:
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
On the altar of prayer, we obtain mercy, Gods mercies are unconditional, but they can only be received on the altar of prayers. If you want to continue to enjoy Gods love and His tender mercies, that are new every morning, always goto Him in prayers. Always spend quality time with God in His presence and His goodness and mercies will continually follow you all the days of your life. Every time we come to the throne of God in prayers, His mercies and grace is always available for us. I pray for you today, that your prayer life shall never run dry in Jesus name.
3). Angelic Intervention:
Acts 12:5-11 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. 6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. 7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. 8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. 9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. 10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
Answers to our prayers are usually brought to us by Angels.Whenever we pray, angels goto work instantly. Prayers is obviously the sure way to see angelic intervention. The angels of the Lord are fiery creatures, they are powerful, dangerous and cannot be stopped, when we pray to the Lord concerning any issues that concerns us, the angels of the Lord go into actions instantly. All over the bible, we see angelic intervention as a result of prayers, below are some examples:
i) Peter, Acts 12:5-8.
ii) Cornelius. Acts 10:3
iii). Hezekiah. 2 Kings 19:35
iv) Daniel. Daniel 10:13
v). Jacob. Genesis 32:22-31.
4). Deliverance From Afflictions:
James 5:13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
We are encouraged in scriptures to pray when we are afflicted. Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.” Not, “…let him cry…”, or, “let him watch…” That means anyone that is battered, tormented or depressed is expected to pray for deliverance. If you want to see that yoke on your life broken, you must pray. If you want the forces beclouding your destiny to be shattered, prayer is the kingdom force recommended for your deliverance.
You are not born for afflictions; you are created to reflect the glory of God,and prayer is what it takes to enforce your manifestations. Prayer is what you use to free yourself from all afflictions of the enemy and for the restoration of your beauty in Christ. When Hannah was afflicted with barrenness, she went to the temple and prayed. God heard her and gave her a son (1 Sam. 1:9-20). Therefore whatsoever affliction that the devil have put in your body, rise up and pray them out in Jesus name
5). Fulfilment of Prophecies:
1 Timothy 1:18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
Prayer warfare is a sure way to the fulfillment of prophecies. If you want to see prophecies fulfilled in your life, you must wage spiritual warfare. You must pray your way into fulfillment of prophecies. That God said it doesn’t mean you should just go and sleep, a lot of Christians have wasted, while waiting for prophecies to be fulfilled. You do not wait for prophecies, you run with prophecies, and how do you run with prophecies, through prayers. You must continue to pray for the confirmation of Gods word in your life in order to see it come to pass.
6). Divine Direction:
Psalms 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Divine direction is the heritage of the redeemed. But you must seek it in order to enjoy it. When you locate the path of life, you enjoy fullness of joy and pleasures for evermore. But they are only obtainable in God’s presence, which is our ultimate goal in prayer. Through prayers, we can ask God to show us the direction He wants us to take in life. Prayer is the sure way to discover your purpose in life. God is your creator, He is the manufacturer and no one knows the purpose of a product better than the manufacturer Himself, therefore if you want to know the path you were created to follow in life, if you want to discover your purpose in life, first and for most goto your creator in prayers. Ask the Lord to lead you.
When God leads you, you can’t but become outstanding in life. Some people are not cut out for business, but have chosen to do it, either because of social influence or personal affection. Others are into all manner of professions where their star may never shine, because they haven’t located the right path. They just keep groping around. But you can’t afford to go through life doing what seems right to you. It is too risky! Let God lead you today, and your path shall continually be a shining light.
7). Consecration:
To be consecrated means to be seoerated unto a holy life. When you live a prayerful life, you live a consecrated life. You can’t spend quality time always with God and still be comfortable with sin. Prayer helps us to build spiritual capacity to live a holy life. The more we pray, the more consecrated we become and the more consecrated we become ,the more like Christ we become.
THE ROLE OF THE WORD IN PRAYER
Praying without the word of God, is just giving an empty speech. It is the word of God in your prayers that gives your prayers the power to command answers. God does not respond to English language or any other language you use to pray, He responds only to to His word. Heaven and earth shall pass away but His word will never pass away.
Praying is just like presenting your case before a judge in a court room, you don’t wink a case because you know how to tell stories, you win a case because your stories are backed up with hard documented proofs. The same way it is with prayers. Whatsoever you are demanding from God in prayers, you must search the scriptures and find the word of God that is related to that area of your need and present it to God in your prayers. For instance if you are praying to God for fruitfulness, You will remind Him of His word in Exodus 23:25, that they that serve you shall not be barren, you also remind Him of His word in Genesis, where he commanded mankind to be fruitful and multiply. When you remind God of His word in the course of your prayers, you are presenting a strong case before God, the judge of all, and since God cannot deny His word, He cannot deny you the answers to your prayers.
Please, do not pray without a proper study of the word. Thank God for the internet this days, whatsoever you want to pray about, do a research in the word concerning that area. For instance if you want to pray a prayer for healing, go online and search in Google for bible verses on healing, copy down those verses, read them and use them to remind God in prayers. Quote His word back to Him, tell Him, ” Father, if you have said and done this in your word, come and do the same in my life in Jesus name”. Praying with the word makes your prayers impossible to be ignored by God. I see all your prayers form today answered in Jesus name.
HOW TO APPROACH THE THRONE ROOM OF PRAYER
For every successful venture, there is always a know how, and that includes prayer. We are quickly going to be looking at ways to approach the throne of prayer.
1). Faith In His Name.
Everything in this kingdom begins and ends with faith. Without faith it is impossible to approach God, Hebrews 11:6. Faith is absolute dependency on God. When we pray with absolute dependency on God, we see His faithfulness in our lives. To approach the throne room of prayer, we must come believing, we must believe in the God that we are praying to. If we miss the faith step, every other step becomes futile. Our faith must be in the name of Jesus Christ as we approach the altar of prayer. Our prayer must start in the name of Jesus, and end in the name of Jesus.
2). Thanksgiving:
Thanksgiving is the most effective way to enter Gods presence. Every prayer to God should start with thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is appreciating God for who He is and for what He has done in our lives. When we appreciate God, His goodness keeps appreciating in our lives.
3). Boldness:
Hebrews 4:16, tells us to come to the altar of prayer with boldness. We must be bold before God in prayers, He is our Father, and He loves us in ways we can never imagine. Therefore we must not be timid before God, even if you have sinned, just receive His mercy and grace to move on in Christ. God will always respond to our bold requests in the name of Jesus.
4). Be Specific in Your Requests:
Prayer is not complete until we have presented our requests before God. In this area, It is very wise that we be specific in our prayers. Tell God exactly what we want Him to do in your life. Don’t ramble or babble, just go straight to the point, if you want healing, ask him for healing, if you want wisdom, just ask him for wisdom, if you want directions, just ask Him for directions. Be specific and clear in your requests.
5). Expectation:
Without expectation, your faith will not last. Expectation is simple waiting Ernestly for your answers, it is believing God that your prayers have been answered. Expectation is what connects our faith to our miracles. For every prayer we pray, we must expect our answers. It is only the expectation of the righteous that will come to pass in the end. Prayer is just like calling your friend on the phone asking her to come to your office, and she tells you that she will be there in an hour, that prayer, but expectations is you waiting for her in your office to come within the hour. You see, because of your expectation, you will be properly positioned because you are expecting your answers. In the same way when we pray to God, we should not just stop at prayers, we must expect our answers because only those who expect answers see them. Its easy to miss a visitor, when you are not expecting him or her.
PRAYER BOOSTERS
Prayer boosters are spiritual activities that empowers our prayer life. This spiritual activities keeps our prayer fire burning. Below are 2 major prayer boosters:
1). Fasting:
Fasting is putting the flesh or body under subjection in order to develop your spirit through prayer and the word. During fasting, we abstain from food, drinks and any other thing that can give pleasure to the flesh,so that we can seek God. Prayer is power, but fasting is the catalyst that speeds up your prayers reaction. That is to say, fasting makes your prayer even more focused and powerful. Eating, drinking and watching TV, can be a distraction to you sometimes, that is why you should be giving to fasting. Fasting in itself does not add to your spiritual life, but when we pray in a fast and study in a fast, we maximize the spiritual benefits of fasting. Fasting can be done for 3 hour, 6 hours, 12 hour etc as the spirits leads you. Here are some bible verses on fasting, Matthew 17:21, Luke 4:14, Matthew 6:16-18, Isaiah 58:6-8.
2). Praying In The Holy Ghost
The Holy Ghost helps us to pray effectively. Do you want your prayer life to be on fire? Then desire to be filled with the Holy Ghost. Being filled with the Ho!y Ghost is evidenced by praying in tongues. When we pray in tongues the Holy Ghost prays through us, and according to Jude 1:20, that is the highest form of prayer.
The forces against us are spiritual, so we have to confront them from the spirit realm, as the flesh hasn’t enough force to handle them. That is why Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit, our Comforter and Helper, to help us transcend the physical realm into the heavenly.Until you are able to engage the help of the Holy Spirit in prayer, you may never experience true breakthrough in your Christian life. In order to boost your prayer life to the point of answers, always pray in the spirit, let the Holy Spirit pray through and you shall always see supernatural victory.
CONCLUSION
I believe this was helpful to you, the subject of prayer in the life of a Christian can never be overemphasized, prayer is the life wire of every Christian. I pray that the grace to be steadfast on the prayer altar rest on you continually in Jesus name. Remain ever blessed.
